Bedan Law Student died because of Hazing

I just received a text message from my Best friend, also a Freshman Law Student in San Beda telling me about his classmate who passed away yesterday because of hazing so I googled about this information 'cause I think this concerned us, law students, in so many ways. So here's the report from ThePOC.net

A San Beda College of Law freshman has reportedly died Monday due to injuries caused by a hazing incident.

In a statement posted late Monday night on the Facebook page of the San Beda College of Law Student Government (LSG), the victim who allegedly died after undergoing fraternity initiation rites was identified as Marc Andrei Marcos.

“This is what we have confirmed so far: at about 3pm this afternoon, we have received reports that a 1st year Bedan law student, Marc Andrei Marcos from 1P, has been confined at the DLSU Medical Center, Dasmarinas, Cavite, but he did not make it,” the statement said.

“The LSG officers after receiving the report went to Dasmarinas, Cavite but the body was no longer there. We are now en route back to QC where the body is undergoing an autopsy. We are also in coordination with the Administration to find out which fraternity is behind this heinous crime. Violence will never be tolerated by this Law School,” it added.

“San Beda will fully cooperate with the investigation and rest assured that everything is being done to see that justice is served.”

In a separate post, the LSG said that a mass will be held in San Beda today in honor of the alleged hazing victim.

According to GMA News Online, staff at the DLSU Medical Center refused to give details on a patient who was rushed to the emergency room on Sunday.

In a DZMM report, Dasmariñas City Police Chief Superintendent Ulysis Cruz said that the body of the 20-year old Marcos was brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Lab for further investigation on the alleged hazing incident.

The administration of the San Beda College, meanwhile, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the reports.

The news regarding the death of a San Beda Law student due to hazing broke on various social media sites late Monday night.

On Facebook, the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Arts and Letters posted a statement confirming the death of one of its alumni.

“Andrei Marcos was a graduate of the Faculty of Arts and Letters, University of Santo Tomas. He finished with a degree of AB Legal Management last March 2012. Unfortunately, he was killed during a fraternity hazing after being admitted at San Beda College this academic year,” the post said.

“Let us pray for his soul and hope that justice will be delivered to him,” it added.

The victim’s friends have also been posting about his death on social media site Twitter since Monday.

Earlier this year, San Beda College of Law freshman Marvin Reglos died due to injuries caused by hazing during the initiation rites of the Lambda Rho Beta fraternity.
