What is the history of the PUP College of Law?
The PUP College of Law (PUP CL) was established in 2001 and it confers a post-graduate degree in Bachelor of Laws (LL.B). The College aims for excellence and aspire for superiority in providing legal education that meets national standards to qualified students in order to develop trustworthy lawyers and patriotic national leaders. The PUP CL is one of the top law schools in the country and has already a generated a number of passers in the bar examinations.
Consistent with the desire of the Chairman of the PUP Board of Regents to open the College of Law in the first semester of school year 2001-2002, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the College of Accountancy and Law and the Chairperson of the Department of Law met in the early part of May 2001 to finalize the proposal to approve the establishment of the PUP College of Law.

In January 2001, the University President instructed the Dean of the College of Accountancy and Law to conduct a study and prepare the proposal for the establishment of the College of Law in line with the pertinent provisions of DECS Order No. 27, otherwise known as the “Policies and Standards for Legal Education” and CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 46, s. 1996 (the Policy and Program Deregulations vis-a-vis Higher Education Institutions).
Immediately thereafter, the desired proposal was submitted to the University Academic Council, which in turn endorsed the establishment of the College of Law to the PUP Board of Regents in its letter dated May 25, 2001.
On the same date, the PUP Board of Regents approved Resolution No. 115, Series of 2001, entitled: “RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE COLEGE OF LAW.”

An applicant must also pass the PUP College of Law Entrance Test.

Before a qualified applicant is allowed to enrol, the following requirements must be submitted:
  1. Transcript of Records (with notation “copy for PUP College of Law only”)
  2. Certificate of Transfer Credentials / Honorable Dismissal from the school last attended
  3. Original Copy of Birth Certificate from NSO

How much is the tuition fee and other fees in the PUP College of Law?

Currently, the PUP College of Law charges P500 per unit as tuition fee. Thus, a law student will pay a tuition fee of P 9,000 for an 18-unit regular load assuming that he is a full-time student. The amount would be lesser if he is a working student as he cannot surely take a full regular load. A working student may only manage to enroll around 12 to 15 units per semester.

On top of the tuition fee, a law student will also pay miscellaneous fees amounting to P 1,050 which includes medical and dental, library fee, registration fee, energy fee etc. So, all in all a regular full load semester would cost a full time student P 10,050--an amount which is very minimal compared to other law schools. The total amount may however be paid on installment: at least half of which during enrollment and the balance before mid-term examination.

See complete list of fees below as of 2012.

Tuition (per unit) PhP 500.00

    1. Hello :) Yes, you will still be required but you can do it while studying already. Pwede mo sya i-take ng summer. Magpapasa ka lang ng promisory note na notarized na ite-take mo yung kulang na units at ipapasa mo yung kulang na requirements sa ipapangako mong date. maybe before ka mag-second year ganun.

For the oral exam, focus on current events and some personal questions. You need to convince the panel that you are ready for the new challenges and you that you deserve to be a "Tunay na Iskolar ng Bayan". Godbless!
