What is the history of the PUP College of Law?
The PUP College of Law (PUP CL) was established in 2001 and it confers a post-graduate degree in Bachelor of Laws (LL.B). The College aims for excellence and aspire for superiority in providing legal education that meets national standards to qualified students in order to develop trustworthy lawyers and patriotic national leaders. The PUP CL is one of the top law schools in the country and has already a generated a number of passers in the bar examinations.
Consistent with the desire of the Chairman of the PUP Board of Regents to open the College of Law in the first semester of school year 2001-2002, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the College of Accountancy and Law and the Chairperson of the Department of Law met in the early part of May 2001 to finalize the proposal to approve the establishment of the PUP College of Law.
In January 2001, the University President instructed the Dean of the College of Accountancy and Law to conduct a study and prepare the proposal for the establishment of the College of Law in line with the pertinent provisions of DECS Order No. 27, otherwise known as the “Policies and Standards for Legal Education” and CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 46, s. 1996 (the Policy and Program Deregulations vis-a-vis Higher Education Institutions).
Immediately thereafter, the desired proposal was submitted to the University Academic Council, which in turn endorsed the establishment of the College of Law to the PUP Board of Regents in its letter dated May 25, 2001.
On the same date, the PUP Board of Regents approved Resolution No. 115, Series of 2001, entitled: “RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE COLEGE OF LAW.”

ReplyDeleteHi. May I ask what are the things to be expected in the College of Law entrance exam? Is it more like a regular college entrance exam or the exam for the CL revolves around things related to law?
ReplyDelete-Kyle
Hi Kyle :) Written and Oral exam kc yun.. Essay type yung written and nung time na nag-take ako tungkol lang naman sa consti at sa current events. tpos yung oral, itatanong lang din sayo yung mga sagot mo sa written.
DeleteHi! Curious lang, do you guys conduct recitations too and how strict are the professors?--S
ReplyDeleteLahat naman po ata ng law school or karamihan naman po ata tlagang puro oral recit kada meeting, depende sa trip ng prof pero karamihan sa prof, no notes on the table during the recit..
DeleteHello Jocelle! Ask ko lang if they are strict with the number of English units a potential student has to take before taking the exam. I graduated with an Econ degree and I only have 12 units of English. Will they still require me to take the additional 6 units? Thank you very much! :D
ReplyDeleteHello :) Yes, you will still be required but you can do it while studying already. Pwede mo sya i-take ng summer. Magpapasa ka lang ng promisory note na notarized na ite-take mo yung kulang na units at ipapasa mo yung kulang na requirements sa ipapangako mong date. maybe before ka mag-second year ganun.

DeleteThanks Jocelle! God Bless you on your studies! Hope to see you in court in the near future. :D

ReplyDeleteHello! Do they cater transferrees? I am going to take the exam on March 22.
ReplyDeleteHi Ms. Jocelle.
ReplyDeleteCan you (or your Law school classmates) recommend a university which offers supplemental English courses on summer classes or night classes. I lack 9 units in English and I am already working.
Thank you in advance.
Hi Miss Jocelle,
ReplyDeleteI would like to thank you for your blogs were really helpful. I am now enrolled as a freshman for AY2014-2015. I would like to ask you where can I get samples of past exams for the subjects for first year level. I just want to be oriented on what I should expect on the exams to come. Thanks:)

ReplyDeleteHi, just want to ask if the College of Law offers saturday classes?
ReplyDeleteHi Jocelle,
ReplyDeleteDo you have any idea on when will be the Law Entrance Exam for June 2016? I was advised to check the website from time to time but up until now there's no post about it yet?
Thank you in Advance:)
Hi Jhay-cee,

DeleteHi, who among here knows the scope for the PUP Law entrance examination?
ReplyDeleteHello! I'd like to ask tips po on how to pass the CL Entrance Exam. Thanks much!
ReplyDeleteFor written exam, brush up with your critical and analytical thinking skills.Take aptitude exams that are available online. For the oral exam, focus on current events and some personal questions. You need to convince the panel that you are ready for the new challenges and you that you deserve to be a "Tunay na Iskolar ng Bayan". Godbless!
ReplyDeleteHi. I'm currently a first year law student in PUP. Have you finished the JD program? How strict is the 6-year residency in PUP? Thanks!
